FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
American Coalition for Ukraine to Host 4th Ukraine Action Summit in Washington, D.C.
This community-building and advocacy event will bring together over 500 attendees from 45 states to forge new and impactful partnerships, attend expert panel discussions and advocacy workshops, hold an interfaith prayer service for Ukraine, and meet with their elected officials on Capitol Hill.
WASHINGTON, DC: The American Coalition for Ukraine will convene the Spring 2024 Ukraine Action Summit on April 12-16 in Washington, D.C. This fourth consecutive event will bring together activists, political figures and representatives of different religious groups from Ukraine and the United States to deliver a message of unity against aggression: PEOPLE’S LIVES ARE NOT POLITICS.
During the first two days, the Ukraine Action Summit will offer expert-led panel discussions and advocacy training, showcase Ukraine-focused U.S.-based organizations, and provide opportunities to network within the broader Ukrainian-American community and among other supporters.
Expert speakers for the panel discussions will include officials at executive branch agencies and leading think tanks, Ukrainian business leaders, civil society activists and former Hill staff. The Summit organizing committee is bringing together thought leaders who cover the most pressing challenges from the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine and represent a broad spectrum of political views.
The activists with the American Coalition for Ukraine will also be partnering with and educating a younger generation of advocates at an adjacent event. The first Ukraine Action Student Summit will be held on April 12 and 13, 2024, at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Students will attend two days of panel discussions, as well as field visits with international relations officials, before joining the rest of the activists for advocacy workshops and meetings on the Hill during the April 14-16 Ukraine Action Summit advocacy days.
The upcoming Summit will present all attendees with the opportunity to participate in an Interfaith Prayer for Ukraine. This unique event will include leaders of Ukraine’s religious faiths to showcase Ukraine’s diverse religious landscape and highlight unity across congregations. All Ukrainians are praying for the innocent victims of the ongoing war, a free and independent Ukraine, and for global unity in response to the unjust Russian aggression against Ukraine.
###
The American Coalition for Ukraine believes in democracy, freedom, human rights and dignity for all people, and in particular for Ukrainians who are giving their lives in defense of these principles. Coalition partners call the United States home, but many of us share historic experiences of oppression, violence and war in our countries of origin and ancestral homelands — many times at the hands of Russian imperialism. We wholeheartedly support Ukraine in its defense of the universal values of freedom and human dignity.
