Overview:
The American Coalition for Ukraine (ACU) is looking for a creative and mission-driven Social Media Coordinator to help shape our digital voice across Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn. This volunteer role is a vital part of our Communications Team and works closely with the Weekly Newsletter Coordinator, Communications Manager, and other ACU teams to ensure consistent, accurate, and compelling messaging across platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Development: Collaborate with the Communications Team and other working groups to gather updates, advocacy opportunities, and event highlights.
  • Drafting Posts: Write clear, engaging, and action-oriented social media content tailored to each platform (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn).
  • Visual Layout: Design graphics and select images to accompany posts using ACU branding guidelines.
  • Scheduling & Coordination: Coordinate posting schedule with the Communications Coordinator and Communications Manager to ensure message alignment and consistent communication across platforms.
  • Monitoring & Engagement: Help track audience engagement and feedback to inform future content and strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Strong written communication and visual storytelling skills
  • Familiarity with Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn (personal or professional use)
  • Experience with design tools such as Canva or similar platforms
  • Ability to meet weekly deadlines and collaborate across teams
  • Interest in Ukraine, U.S. foreign policy, or advocacy work is highly appreciated

Overview:
The American Coalition for Ukraine (ACU) is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Graphic Designer to support its national marketing and communications efforts. This volunteer role is ideal for someone passionate about using design to amplify advocacy, humanitarian, and community initiatives in support of Ukraine.

Responsibilities:

  • Create engaging graphics, layouts, and visuals for digital and print materials (social media, newsletters, reports, flyers, event signage, presentations, etc.).
  • Collaborate with the Communications Team to ensure all designs align with ACU’s branding and messaging guidelines.
  • Adapt existing templates for different platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, email, etc.).
  • Support design needs for events, campaigns, and advocacy initiatives.
  • Manage multiple projects with varying deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Canva, Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or other design tools.
  • Strong eye for design, layout, and typography.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Previous design experience is required (professional or volunteer).
  • Commitment to ACU’s mission for Ukraine.

Time Commitment:
Flexible, approximately 5–8 hours per week, depending on campaign needs.

Outreach and Engagement

The Outreach and Engagement Volunteer supports the ACU by expanding advocacy efforts, educating communities, and mobilizing individuals to take action in support of Ukraine. Volunteers will play a key role in building networks, countering misinformation, and ensuring that Ukrainian priorities are effectively communicated across diverse audiences. The position is remote but in-person volunteering available in some areas of the US. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Advocacy Support

  • Assist in delivering ACU’s advocacy priorities to communities and stakeholders. 
  • Help educate others on ways to advocate for Ukraine, including contacting elected officials and participating in campaigns. 
  • Share accurate information and counter misinformation about Ukraine and Russian aggression.

Community Outreach

  • Identify and connect with underrepresented groups, new allies, and local communities. ○ Engage with Ukrainian diaspora, allied communities, and non-Ukrainian Americans to build support for Ukraine. 
  • Use culturally relevant messaging to make advocacy relatable to various audiences. 

Recruitment and Engagement

  • Encourage and recruit individuals to participate in advocacy at different levels (e.g., phone calls, events, leadership roles). 
  • Motivate advocates to remain engaged and active in advocacy efforts. 
  • Help diversify the coalition by involving people from different backgrounds.

Communication and Coordination

  • Disseminate messages, advocacy priorities, and educational materials. 
  • Provide feedback from outreach activities to team leads or coordinators. 
  • Assist in creating and sharing advocacy toolkits and resources.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong commitment to the mission of Ukrainian advocacy and defending democracy. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences. 
  • Interest or experience in community organizing, outreach, or advocacy (preferred but not required). 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with team members and independently when needed. Cultural awareness and sensitivity when working with diaspora and allied communities. 
  • Flexibility and willingness to contribute to various tasks depending on organizational needs. 
  • No prior advocacy experience required training and guidance will be provided. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English 

TIME COMMITMENT

  • This position has a minimum time commitment of five hours per week, but more is welcomed.
